Be the welcoming face families see when they walk through our doors. Aqua-Tots North Indianapolis is hiring part-time Front Desk Customer Experience Specialists to help families get started, stay engaged, and make swim lessons part of their routine.
This role combines customer service with sales. You will answer questions, recommend lesson options, and help families enroll. Previous front desk or sales experience is welcome, but not required. We provide paid training.
Families and teammates count on us. We are looking for dependable people who arrive on time and consistently work their scheduled shifts.

Pay and rewards

  • Starting base pay of $15/hour, with pay growth up to $18/hour. Applicable hourly differentials are added to your base pay.
  • +$1/hour language differential for a foreign language that can be used in the workplace.
  • +$0.50/hour for First Aid certification and +$0.50/hour for CPR certification.
  • Sales contest bonus opportunities during select promotional periods.

What you will do

  • Welcome families, check students in, and build friendly relationships with new and current customers.
  • Answer calls and messages, explain our swim program and school policies, and help families choose classes that fit their needs.
  • Follow up with prospective families, support trial lessons, and confidently invite families to enroll while working toward school sales goals.
  • Register new and returning students, sell swim lessons and swimming merchandise, and process transactions accurately.
  • Help with scheduling, class changes, make-ups, and account questions; handle concerns calmly and involve the appropriate leader when needed.
  • Use our point-of-sale and customer communication systems, keeping customer information, notes, and follow-up tasks accurate.
  • Support new family onboarding and student graduations, and complete assigned front desk task lists, checklists, and trackers.
  • Help keep the facility safe, clean, organized, and welcoming. Attend staff meetings and monthly paid in-service training, and support tasks assigned by your lead.

Who we are looking for

A good fit for people with retail, restaurant, hospitality, reception, sales, or childcare experience, and first-time job seekers who enjoy talking with people. We value follow-through and a willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work for every scheduled shift.
  • Be available for at least 2 shifts per week so you can complete training and build your skills through regular practice.
  • Enjoy working with children and families and support our mission of drowning prevention.
  • Arrive on time, consistently work your scheduled shifts, and follow the school's attendance and call-out procedures. Communicate scheduling conflicts promptly.
  • Be patient, coachable, willing to receive feedback, and committed to Aqua-Tots core values and safety standards.
  • Complete paid training and attend required monthly paid in-service training.
  • Be comfortable starting conversations, recommending lesson options, asking families to enroll, and learning customer service and sales skills.
  • Be willing to learn computer systems and keep customer records accurate while handling a busy front desk.

Schedule

We are hiring for all shift times: mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Weekday shifts are typically 4-5 hours; weekend shifts are typically up to 8 hours. Available shifts depend on school needs.
Weekend availability is strongly preferred. Weekday-only applicants are encouraged to apply. We build schedules around your agreed availability whenever possible. Once you accept a schedule, we expect you to work those shifts and communicate changes promptly.

Training and support

Training is paid and takes place on the job. Expect to spend most of your first month learning our systems and building the skills to work confidently at the front desk. Experienced team members and managers will coach you on registration, scheduling, customer service, lead follow-up, and enrollment conversations. Complete the Aqua-Tots Front Desk Staff Certificate of Completion and required CPR and First Aid certifications as part of onboarding, and maintain required certifications.
You will receive ongoing coaching and evaluations on a 30-day cadence as you build your skills in this role.
