JOB SUMMARY: The Aqua-Tots Water Safety Instructor (AT-WSI) position consists of teaching our Learn to Swim program to individuals of all ages and skill levels. Your primary objective will be ensuring safety within the pool environment and teaching students to be safe and confident swimmers for life.  

POSITION TYPE 

  • Part-time, hourly paid position 

  • Days and hours vary based on the school’s needs and season  

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Uphold our Aqua-Tots Swim School Core Values  

  • Teach in accordance with the Aqua-Tots curriculum  

  • Build relationships with the families  

  • Be knowledgeable of and respond to parent questions regarding progression and curriculum  

  • Check pool chemicals and maintain the chemical log  

  • Maintain the organization of the pool area  

  • Assist in the cleaning of the pool environment (windows, showers, deck, etc.)  

  • Complete Aqua-Cards at the end of each shift  

  • Understand and uphold our Minor In-Water Incident procedures  

  • Report any aquatic customer concerns to the Lead on Duty 

  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training  

  • Carry out any other tasks to support team objectives that are assigned by your lead as required 

REPORTS TO 

  • Aquatic Manager and/or Lead on Duty 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Available to work two shifts per week 

  • Capable of swimming  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Valid driver’s license 

  • Previous experience working with children (coaching, camp counselor, teacher, etc.)   

  • Previous experience with lifeguarding, competitive swim, instructing, or aquatics  

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
